A seasoned grilled vidalia onion recipe
1 large vidalia onion*
1 teaspoon ginger
1 teaspoon seasoned salt
2 teaspoons soy sauce
2 Tablespoons peanut oil**
1. Peel onion and slice in half across the middle.
2. Rub the cut onion with ginger, seasoned salt, and soy sauce, in that order, getting seasonings slightly down in between the layers if possible.
3. Coat with oil and store covered in the refrigerator for an hour or until you're ready to grill
4. Grill onions on a medium heat for 10-20 minutes or until onions reach the tenderness you desire. Serve with grilled steak or grilled chicken breast.

*You may use other onions, preferably a sweet white onion, though yellow onions will also taste good if they are grilled a little longer.
**If you don't have peanut oil, you can substitute any other oil you have that can withstand high heat.
I love these grilled onions. We like ours tender, and the onion starts to fall apart and can be eaten with grilled steak or roast or grilled chicken (although these onions don't suit every flavor of grilled chicken). This recipe is so easy to make, but adds a nice "gourmet" feel to a meal. And for an onion fanatic like myself, this is just another way to enjoy those delicious vegetables!! My rating: 10/10.
