This Cauliflower and Broccoli Salad is a family favorite recipe passed to us by my friend Sheri. Sheri's one of the ladies who, aside from my mom, was a great blessing and encouragement to me as a teenager and now as a wife.

When Joshua and I were engaged -- long before I loved to cook or even knew much about cooking -- Sheri hand-copied all of her and her husband's favorite recipes and gave them to me in a recipe box. I have continued to fill that recipe box, and especially during my first years of marriage, having some tried-and-true recipes on hand in every category was a huge blessing!

This Cauliflower and Broccoli Salad is one of the foods that Joshua and I served at our wedding. I can't take much credit for that, though, as my parents and some friends are the ones who made all the salad the night before the wedding!

I took Cauliflower and Broccoli Salad to a church potluck this summer, and it was met with rave reviews. Not a bite was left over, and the recipe was requested by several ladies! For a simple, no-cook summer veggie salad, this one's a hit! Eliyahu (4) helped me by stirring the salad as I added ingredients. :)

Sheri's Baked Beans, before baking
Other favorite recipes from Sheri:
Chicken Pasta Salad (REALLY good)
Shepherd's Pie (Sheri's version)
Tomatoes and Black Beans over Pasta
Cream cheese brownies (Sheri created this recipe, and it is one of Joshua's top favorite desserts!)
...and those are not even all of the recipes on this site that are from Sheri! :)
I love how recipes connect people. So often, I get out a recipe that has become a favorite, and it reminds me of the person who originally gave it to me. Sometimes it's someone close to me, and other times it's someone I've lost touch with and can only pray for.

Garden produce
This looks so good and I am so happy as I have all the ingredients on hand from picking the garden last night. I love recipes that have ingredients that all produce about at the same time in the garden, eliminating the need to purchase half of them. I can't wait to try it today. Thanks.

Betsy, I agree, about recipes that call for things that are all in-season together! :) I love tomato-cucumber salad for that reason especially! :)
Let me know what you thought of the salad if you did get to make it! :D
