Kitchen Tip Tuesdays: Transporting Cheesecakes

We had a busy week, making a total of 4 delicious cheesecakes! Two were for a friend's party, and two were in celebration of our 8th wedding anniversary. We had a blessed weekend with company to help us celebrate! Praise God for His sustaining grace and love towards us!

When we made the cheesecakes for our friend, I used a tip someone posted here a couple years ago, about transporting cheesecakes.

I cut a circle of cardboard to fit in the springform pan, and then wrapped it in foil.

I pressed the crust onto the foil-wrapped cardboard (in the pan) and made the cheesecake as usual.

Making cheesecake crust easy!

The bottom of a measuring cup works perfectly to press the crust into the pan! Joshua discovered this trick and now we always use it.

When the cheesecake was chilled, we cut it and placed it (still on the foil-wrapped cardboard, but out of the springform pan) on some sticky tape in a flat box, and wrapped the whole box in plastic wrap.

Eliyahu was up at 5am as I was finishing wrapping the cheesecakes, so I took a picture of him with them before Joshua headed out the door to work (they were for a co-worker).

Check out this post for the best way to slice a cheesecake! This is how we sliced all of our cheesecakes, and they were picture-perfect.

My tip

Oh my goodness! Those cheesecakes look divine, even first thing in the morning. Orange flavors are my favorite, so I'll definitely be making that one!

My tip today is about using Google calendar to simplify the meal planning process. :)

Using up lots of bananas

We had a wonderful surplus of bananas (organic even!) and found many yummy ways to eat up this blessing.

Cardboard in oven?

Does this mean that the foil-wrapped cardboard gets baked in the oven? How does it not burn? I wonder if it would work for other cakes or is there something special about cheesecake?

Cardboard in the oven

Yes, the foil-wrapped cardboard gets baked in the oven. We baked both of these cheesecakes at 325 degrees for 55+ minutes... cardboard comes out perfectly intact and not burned (I don't think paper burns at that low of a temperature). :)

Cheryl B. - they are an Easter tradition

I LOVE Cheesecake!! We make a no-bake one that is so-o smooth and yummy! Mom use to make it in pineapple or strawberry flavors. My family does not care for pineapple, so I stick to the strawberry. In-fact, I am making it this year for Easter, though that's not what I posted about this time .. hum mmm, maybe next week ....

does your son often get up that early in the morning?

Early risers

Yes, actually 5am is the normal time for both boys to get up in the morning! Both wake up at 5 or shortly after without anyone waking them (and the house is still quiet at that time)! :)

Making the perfect graham cracker crust

My family thinks I make a great homemade graham cracker crust. This last one wasn't all that great.....it all depends on the butter you use. That's my tip for today....using real butter for graham cracker crusts. ( and I posted my recipe too)
