Pumpkin Scones: A must-try for tea drinkers and pumpkin lovers!

Whole wheat pumpkin scones with cinnamon icing

I've been busy baking! I've made these Whole Wheat Pumpkin Scones with Cinnamon Icing 3 times this week. Don't worry, we didn't eat all of them! Some were for a breakfast potluck. :)

I love cooking and baking with pumpkin. I've tried lots of different pumpkin creations and wanted to try making scones with pumpkin. Since I've only made scones a handful of times, I'm certainly no expert... so I went to Nicole's blog Pinch My Salt and used her Pumpkin Spice Scone recipe to guide me. I made a few changes (when don't I?!) and the end result was AWESOME! Especially warm. Totally amazing!!

If you love pumpkin and hot tea, you must try these scones! Or come over to my house and I'll make some for both of us. :)

By the way, if you've never been to Pinch My Salt, you're missing out on some great food photography and seriously, everything she bakes makes me hungry just looking at it! :)

oh my!

These look delicious! Hummm...wonder how they would taste with chocolate chips in them or melted on top of them.

Going have to put these on my "to try/make list". :)

Thanks for sharing!

Whole wheat pastry flour?

Tammy, I am new to baking. Would regular whole wheat flour work okay, or does it need to be ww pastry flour? I know there are differences, but I don't know how much of an effect it would have, and I hate to go out and buy a whole bag of flour that I don't normally keep on hand just for one recipe.

Whole wheat flour vs. pastry fklour

You can definitely substitute plain whole wheat flour for the whole wheat pastry flour. I personally wouldn't purchase ww pastry flour just for one recipe! ;)

However, I do love having ww pastry flour on hand for quick breads (scones, biscuits, coffee cake, banana bread, muffins, etc.) because they turn out so tender and delicious! I first tried ww pastry flour last year, after we got our grain mill, and now I love using it (though it is more expensive so I don't always use it).

Thanks! I will give it a

Thanks! I will give it a try, and maybe try out the whole wheat pastry flour next time I see flour on sale.

Pumpkins

I love baking with pumpkins in the fall time. Tammy we have tried many of your recipes over the last few years and have loved every single one of them. I check your site first when looking for a recipe. This week we made two of your cheesecakes. The first one was so good we just had to try a second one.

Mmmmm...

Those do look delicious! I will have give those a try sometime soon. :)~Tanya - mama to 6 treasures. :)

make these!

My younger daughter and I whipped these up yesterday morning. They are lovely! Easy enough for a 10yr old and yet really do taste like something from Starbucks - what's better than that? I think pecans would be a great addition, but these are not low calorie and I decided not to add fat grams this time around. Take a few minutes and make these; you won't be sorry!

Yum!

Those look so delicious--thinking about adding cinnamon chips to them!

YUMMY!

I made these today and they are so good. I can't recommend them highly enough. You HAVE to try these. Easy and delicious!

Delicious!!!

What a wonderful recipe!! I could hardly wait for my icing to set!! I saw the suggestion of raisins, but only had dates so i used them instead and its a nice surprise! I am actually going to make them for a bridal shower i am throwing next weekend so mine are in the shape of hearts. Thanks for the wonderful recipes, my family and I have enjoyed every one we have tried.
Many Blessings to you and your family,
Leah Halterman

Best Pumpkin Scones I've Ever Tasted

I made these tonight and I loved everything about them. The taste and the texture were perfect. And I was pleasantly surprised by how easy the dough was to work with.

A friend sent me the link, so this is my first time here. I will definitely be looking around at the rest of what you have posted. Thanks for adding some edible joy to my week. (Not to mention the joy of baking. I love cutting butter in!)

Love these!

I love pumpkins, but my husband isn't too crazy about pumpkin flavored items, but he really liked these scones! They were very good and kept for a few days too (until they ran out.) I would def make these again.

Great Recipe!

I made these yesterday according to the recipe and they were excellent. All gone, I'll make another batch today
