A colorful and flavorful lettuce salad of seasoned taco meat, Fritos, salsa, sour cream, cheese, tomatoes, and green onions
Taco Meat Recipe:
2 pounds ground chuck or ground round
2 large onions, chopped
2 green bell peppers, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 Tablespoon chili powder
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 Tablespoon cumin
Tapatio hot sauce, to taste
Taco Salad Ingredients:
taco meat recipe from above
lettuce, washed and torn
Fritos, or other small yellow corn chips
homemade salsa [1]
shredded cheddar cheese
shredded monterey jack cheese, optional
sour cream
diced tomatoes
green onions, chopped
1. Fry meat with onion, bell pepper and garlic. Drain grease, and then stir in chili powder, pepper, salt, cumin and Tapatio.
2. On plate, arrange a bed of lettuce. Layer Fritos, meat, salsa [1], cheese, sour cream, tomatoes, and green onions.

My rating: 10/10. This is one of my favorite meals. I especially like the seasoned meat. It tastes similar to the taco seasoning that is sold in little packets in the store; however, this homemade version is much cheaper and much healthier (no MSG!). This is the basic recipe for how we make our meat for tacos, enchiladas, nachos, and chili. It's really really good! :)
