Easy and elegant meal tips

Italian Cream Cheese Chicken over Pasta recipe

Two of my brothers flew out to visit us again last week. We had a great time! :) One of the meals I served was this Italian Cream Cheese Chicken over Pasta. It's a favorite for both of them (and me!)

Easy to make, beautiful on the plate! I served some cooked green beans and Joshua made fruit smoothies for dessert for us. Yum! :)

What's your secret to serving an elegant meal with ease?

A few ways I've discovered for adding a special touch to a meal:

Use cloth napkins. Nothing says "You're special!" like a fresh clean cloth napkin!

Sprinkle your food. Herbs, spices, cheese, anything to fancy-up an otherwise pale casserole or dish! Parsley and shredded parmesan cheese are two of my favorites.

Use your nicest glasses! Fruit juice or smoothies served in wine glasses are extra special! :)

Use color. Whatever colors your main dish has, choose some different side dish colors. I do a lot of plain (frozen, cooked, then salted) veggies like corn, peas, green beans, or a peas/carrots mixture! And there's nothing wrong with serving more than one veggie at a meal!

I'd love to hear what you've discovered that adds a memorable flair to your guest's meal! :)

Meal tips..

I love to use color in my meals too! Makes things look so much tastier!

Using nice dishes is a great way to perk up a meal too, as you suggested. I've gotten into the habit of using mine whenever we eat together, not just for special occasions. My dishwasher's going to run either way, so why not use the nice stuff and enjoy our meals together.

I like to add two candles,

I like to add two candles, either together or separate at each end of the table. Another thing is soft classical non-annoying (lol!) music in the background.

Boring

I am so boring when it comes to this! Can't wait to see all the tips you get.

Love it!

I made that Italian cream cheese chicken over pasta after finding it in your recipe archives, and it is DELICIOUS!!! We absolutely love it around here!!

I use

Candles, like the one poster suggested. I also get a fresh centerpiece. at holidays, the table might be graced w/holiday themed items.

Good china (I registered for this for my wedding, more brides should do this!), good silverware, tablecloth that matches the centerpiece, cloth napkins (we don't use them everyday.) Along w/the wine glasses etc. I tend to use items that we don't use everyday, like the cups and saucers that come w/the china.

Usually the only time we'll have music playing is around Christmas, and it'll be Christmas music. Usually we're talking too much to even hear the music, so we don't bother.

Oh! And we'll eat in our formal dining room, as opposed to the kitchen.

Saying hello

Oh that is soooooo yummy~!! I'm pretty pregnant right now and your food is looking soooooo scrumptious~!!

My family came this weekend

My family came this weekend and hubby and I had gotten out of the habit of eating at the table (we have a few favorite TV shows and would eat while watching one of them--no kids yet).

So before they came I put out my favorite tablecloth, a basket with the cloth napkins in it, a small plate with a scented candle on it (the candle was a gift, I don't usu. buy things like that), and then my mom brought fresh daffodils from her garden! Even in a Mason jar (can't find my vases since the move), they're lovely!
