Camping out

One of my brothers brought over his tent for us to borrow! Last night the children and I slept outside. It got chilly (mid-40's) but we were all snuggled under a huge down comforter and stayed toasty warm! :)

The boys have been very, very excited about "camping out". Camping in the back yard is far enough from home for me -- I like being able to run in the house whenever I want. ;)

I put Ruth on my back (in the mei tai) while I made up the beds in the tent. Lately I have been wearing Ruth on my back around the house. Yehoshua is now old enough to help me get her legs in the right spot! She loves riding on my back. :)

Yehoshua's bed -- a crib mattress. He was warm enough on here last night but crawled in with us halfway through the night. :)

The other side of the tent has our queen-sized air mattress, lots of pillows, and lots of blankets. I went and got the down comforter after this picture was taken. That comforter is so warm!

It was a challenge to get the children and myself all ready for bed by 7:30 last evening. I am very accustomed to doing a few hours of work after the children go to bed for the night.

We are also camping out in our back yard. Tomorrow we begin setting up our tent and building a Succah in our front yard.

Where I live 40 has been the high the last two days. You are lucky it is not freezing where you live yet.

Growing up my step-dad always made sure to take the time to take me camping, fishing, and to rivers. He was very brave in letting me invite all my friends sometimes. So there could be six screaming girls at once. My Mom would come to help manage. I have not been camping in years and would love to go. Hubby and I have been talking of maybe buying a pop up camper in a year or two. Then we can take mini-vacations. These pictures are adorable and lots of memories for the little ones to look back fondly on.

Yes! We are getting ready for Sukkot. :) For various reasons, we will only be camping out on 4 of the feast days, but that should be fun! :D

We just returned from a 3 day camping trip ourselves. Our boys (3 and 9) love camping, as do I. But it's so nice to return home! It got down to 35 the first night, but we all wore hats (my trick to staying warm as body heat leaves through the head) and stayed toasty. and food cooked over a campfire is just special somehow...even if it's the same stuff you might cook at home.

Your children look thrilled and I hope you all had a good time.

Tammy,

Looks like fun! Just wanted to note the down comforter- when we registered for wedding gifts, my hubby insisted on registering for one. I thought it was a silly idea but said okay. Well, last week when we opened our gifts and used it for the first time OH MY GOSH it is so warm!! I think it was one of our best gifts.

Kassie, our down comforter was a wedding gift as well! It IS really warm. If our bedroom is above 60 degrees, we get TOO hot under it! :) It's like a survival kit item. ;)
