they're kind of fancy! haha! Good old pancakes are good for me. Though I would never refuse some good Belgian waffle if someone made them for me...or if my husband decided that he's in the mood for waffles, then I'll make them. That happens about twice a year. :) I love waffles that are nice and crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. I also love that the syrup can gather in the squares. Yum! Definitely pancakes, hands-down. I don't know why, but I've always preferred them. However, that's american waffles that I'm not too keen on. Belgian waffles is a different story... those things are incredible! My son has been making blueberry Belgian waffles on fridays and I am LOVING them. Maybe it is because I do not have to make them!! All I know is I have never really liked waffles before. Maybe I had never had a good blueberry one? I went ahead and voted pancakes since I have never liked waffles before but right this minute I am liking the ones my son makes!! On a side note, he found this recipe one morning before I had gotten up and decided he would make them. He was wanting pancakes but found a waffle recipe in a magazine. I woke up totally surprised he even knew which container was sugar and which was flour! (they are not labeled!) Now I just have to teach him what "clean" really means!hehe Mostly because when I make them, I make them right at the table so they're hot and fresh-nice and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Yummy! We just bought a waffle iron about a week and a half ago-- they are so light a fluffy!! Don't know if I can go back to pancakes!! :) We enjoy both! I love them since they're so easy-they make a real quick supper! My hubby loves to eat them! (Okay, I do, too!) He especially loves them with nuts in them. Pecans, walnuts, whatever kind of nuts. I like chocolate chips, but don't do it often. :) Right now I just do pancakes, as I don't have a waffle iron. Any recommendations? I'm looking for a fairly compact one that makes square waffles that would fit in a toaster. (I want to be able to freeze them for quick breakfasts.) Any thoughts from anyone? Thanks! ...but only on special occasions. Our family of six makes waffles using an ancient, single waffle maker that makes waffle making very occasional! For pancakes, we have about the biggest electric griddle that can be had, making pancakes an easy fix. Also, I don't like how waffles puddle the syrup so I usually dip them in syrup instead. My favorite waffle recipe has corn and ham in the batter. Ever heard of such a thing? They are so good! I voted pancakes, but I love waffles too! I like both, but I prefer making waffles because they seem easier and quicker to me... no standing there over the stove to flip them at just the right time! ~Elizabeth in Alaska Post new comment |

I tend to put honey on mine. My dh likes the store bought pancake syrup. For the children I put honey on theirs.
I usually make them plain, but on occasion I'll add blueberries, or strawberries to the mix, or put them on top.
