My husband loves burgers![]() Joshua loves burgers, and he loves to grill. I've been taking full advantage of these two facts, and he's been faithfully grilling burgers for us at least twice a week these days. :) This was a turkey burger, with garden-fresh tomatoes and sweet Vidalia onions. With fresh veggies to add to the sandwich, even I like a plain old burger -- though a garlic turkey burger is my first choice any day. :) How do you prefer to season burgers? And that's your favorite burger meat? :) All beef burgers for us. We get our beef "home grown" from my uncles. I like to either add a package of onion soup mix or just season them with a little garlic powder. Amy Since I am allergic to beef and the turkey burgers we buy at the store have additives that I am allergic to, I prefer venison burgers. When we make them we either put garlic or chili powder on them. My mouth is watering seeing your picture of the burger on the bun because I can't have that either. jenny We season with Dales sauce. It is so good. I think it may be a southern item but I am not sure since I only shop in the south:)We buy ground chuck. I have tried to sneak in ground turkey but my husband looks at me like I am an alien or something. He is picky about his meat being of the male variety- turkey is female meat.He has never really said or probably thought that, I am just on a roll so go with me. It has taken me ages to learn how to make a successful beef burger (I'm a slow learner :)) The beef mixture always became dry and crumbly when I cooked it but the other day someone suggested I add a soggy piece of bread to the mixture to help bind it together. It worked great with the sausage rolls I made last week. I have also made some really nice turkey burgers with red pepper and parmesan cheese. Summer We're boring when it comes to meat choice--plain old ground beef, 90% lean. But, one of my favorite recipes calls for adding crushed pineapple (drained well) and Red Gold tomato ketchup. The burgers turn out super moist! I don't have exact measurements--we always eyeball it--but they are so good! We LOVE turkey burgers. So they don't dry out I put the cheese in the middle mixed with crumbled turkey bacon. Yum! I season them with season salt, cracked pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, and a few dashes of Worchester sauce. And then put on our gas grill. We top w/romaine lettuce, tomato, my hubby loves an onion on his. Turkey burgers also. I like to shred zucchini. carrot and onion and mix it into the meat with salt and pepper. This not only makes healthier (is that a word?) burgers, but also keeps the turkey very moist. I like to serve them with lettuce and tomato on a potato or kaiser roll. Yum! My favorite way to season beef burgers is lots of Tony Chachere's Creole Seasoning, and sometimes I add a little garlic powder. Theres nothing like a good grilled burger, with cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, and pickle.... yummy!!! We eat beef burgers, and LOVE to cook them on the bbq! We like seasoning them with either bbq sauce or montreal steak spice. Eat it with fresh bread, yum! I make ours with ground beef and my secret blend of seasonings. Then add cheese and bacon (if we have some) on a bun with ketchup and homemade pickles...hmmm me thinks that will be dinner tonight! Mary in Ohio I loved seasoned meat... a little salt, pepper, garlic, worschesire (however you spell it). Sometimes a little chopped onion. However, my husband like plain old burger. He eats his with chesse, I am not even sure what condiments he puts on it.... Me...if it ain't dripping down my arms it ain't a real burger. I like going to Frudruckers because I can have all the topping I like with out it going to waste because no one else like them. On my burgers I put: Yum, now I want a burger.... Well...I would eat either turkey or beef burgers. However, my dh will only eat beef (in a burger) and we never season with more than salt and pepper because he hates anything other than the natural beef flavor. But that's okay because we rarely eat burgers anyway. :-) Quality meat, season with salt and pepper and hide a pat of butter on the inside of the burger. Grill over coals...not sure how to do that, hubby does most of the grilling over here! :) And he makes some really good burgers! A trick I learned somewhere- when you make a patty, make the middle a little thinner than the outside, then when the burgers cook, they'll be more even instead of puffing up. I don't remember the science behind why that works... We love grass fed beef burgers. I season them generously with salt and pepper and then we serve them with mayo, onions, mustard, ketchup and pickles if we have them. Also we like tomatoes and lettuce on ours. The grass fed beef has sooo much flavor and is delicious. I think I'll take out a couple of pounds for a weekend grill session :). We usually use ground chuck or ground round- whichever is on sale. I tend to stay away from reg ground beef since it is fattier and smeels wierd to me. Heather K Turkey burgers with garlic powder, salt n pepper. I like to top mine with bbq sauce, lettuce and tomato. A summer favorite! Monica, Joyful Nine That burger looks delicious, Joshua. Tammy, I bet you feel blessed that he likes to grill! :) Lyn We eat ours with BBQ sauce we mix up and mix with the ground beef before making them into patties. It's my favorite way to eat a hamburger. I love ground turkey for burgers! It makes the burger so juicy! Brittany We make ours with ground chuck or ground sirloin or ground turkey. We just season with good old Lawry's. I like to jazz them up but my family prefers plain. Sometimes we make Italian burgers and season the meat with some Italian seasoning, after it's cooked top with the spaghetti sauce of your choice and a slice of mozzarella cheese. YUM! We buy a 1/4 of buffalo each year. We love buffalo burgers! They are very lean. When I pan-fry the meat for other recipes, I don't even have to drain. I highly recommend buffalo. For hamburgers, I usually just dash worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper on them, then grill on a charcoal grill. I put cheese on at the end of grilling to let it melt a bit. Then we all add our own condiments. I use If I am out of one or two I just leave them out but the two most important ones are the chili powder and season salt. We only eat turkey burgers and they are really tasty this way. We now eat those at least twice a month!!!I just divide the pound of turkey between the three of us! Never a scrap left!! Salt, black pepper, and a healthy sprinkling of garlic powder cooked on a charcoal grill. For something extra special we top them with cheese and bacon.
We haven't' been eating burgers as much as usual this summer since it's hard to find it for less than over 3.50 per lb. Which is a lot when you are used to eating "free" venison all the time.
