Here's a quick tip about making baked potatoes:

Be sure to stick the potatoes with a fork right before putting them in the oven. If you poke them ahead of time, the holes sometimes seal over and cause the potato to still explode in the oven! This has happened to my mom when she tried to use the delayed-bake feature on her oven for baked potatoes while she way away from home...
