I think this is something to look into. I will let you know if I ever get some to try. I would love to have something that is similar to yogurt on hand. Do you know if you can make yogurt with it? Thanks for all the information!

Well, kefir is different from yogurt, but has a similar taste. It is runnier, and the cultures are a little different (kefir is supposed to be even better for you than yogurt!).

I have never made my own yogurt, but I've heard that it's really easy to do!! :)

I haven't tried it since milk is a no-no for me I am not sure if it will cause the same upsets that milk does to us. Still looking into it, haven't found much info on that type of thing yet.

So I have no idea even what it is.

I have been growing kefir for over a year now, it is so easy.
I do believe that the kefir makes milk Ok for those who have problems with lactose. I think it digests it.
Tammy, am I right?

I have read that the kefir cultures "eats" the lactose, making kefir more suitable for lactose-intolerant people.

We may be testing this first hand, as Joshua has recently confirmed the fact that he is lactose-intolerant, and we're still figuring out which products affect him the most. :)

One of my favorite things to do with kefir is to mix it 1/2 and h1/2 with pineapple juice then blend in some bananas. It also makes my pancakes nice and fluffy.

I've never tasted it but it seems interesting. Maybe I'll look into it.
