Well, both from scratch and a mix since I make my own mix! Occassionally purely from scratch.

I think making your own mix counts as making them from scratch! ;)

From scratch here! I have thought of mixing up my own mix, but haven't done that yet. Anyway, all from scratch here! :)~Tanya

I thought I disliked pancakes until I made them from scratch--sooo much better! :-)

I love this one blueberry mix, so I tend to fall back on using it. Otherwise I have made them from scratch but 90% of the time we don't.

I have been making my Uncle Jarvis's pancakes for all my married years - 28 so far.
Beat up 3 eggs
add 3 heaping T brown sugar, a splash of vanilla and 1/2 cup oil.
then add
3 C flour
3 heaping t baking powder
t salt
add "enough" milk - about 2 cups

serve to your hungry family and they will love you and the pancakes :)

my boys both have an egg allergy (urgh!) and so even though I was making our pancakes from scratch prior to their arrival, i am making a lot more things from scratch.

by the way, simply substituting the egg with mashed bananas and applesauce mixed with a bit of oil make them WONDERFUL. my hubby will even eat them! and they make the kitchen smell like i've been baking!

I always make buttermilk pancakes with my own cultured whole milk buttermilk. They are delicious (say the kids)!

Pancakes are so easy to make, a mix seems an unnecessary expense. Scratch pancakes always taste better too.

My mom only made pancakes with Bisquick, so I grew up thinking I didn't like pancakes. Once I made them from scratch I found out how tasty they are, especially with homemade fruit topping. Yum!

I would love some good pancake mix recipes. I buy a mix because it's easy, but it's just not good for you and my youngest would eat pancakes for every meal if I let her.

I've tried whole wheat mixes and she just does't care for them.

I would love suggestions, or links, or something!!!

Alton Brown's Mix
http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/recipe/0,,FOOD_9936_13660,00.html

it also has his recipe for how to use the mix.
We actually use this mix for waffles ad then use a pancake recipe I got out of an old betty crocker cook book.

When my children were small, I fell back on mixes to make pancakes, but as they got older and I felt that from-scratch recipes were more nutritional (since I knew what was in them), I started making them from scratch only. One day, I tried making them with whole wheat flour and my family just loved them. They are more filling with the WWF too. Pancakes are so versatile too, adding all kinds of fruit and other flavorings.

We like cornmeal pancakes best so I make them from scratch. Mix pancakes just takes like nothing by comparison.
