The blessings of change...

Ruth Patience

There's something about having a new baby that inspires me to do a little re-focusing. I get to slow down for a few weeks (thanks to the help of many family members and friends... along with all the preparations I made beforehand!) and I get to do some extra thinking. I had some areas of my life that definitely needed to be simplified... a few things that have gone out the window all together... and some things that I just needed a nudge to be more efficient about!

Breastfeeding is, and has always been, such a great blessing to me... because I get to sit (or lay) down every couple of hours (or more often!) and just hold my baby and relax. Okay, so sometimes I'm also reading stories to my boys, or jumping up to get Eliyahu out of trouble, but still... breastfeeding makes me relax.

I am just loving being a mommy. Having a new baby reminded me again of how quickly each day passes... and what a blessing it is to enjoy each moment to the fullest. I love holding Ruth... the boys and I all fight over who gets to hold her all day. ;) And Yehoshua just melts my heart when he says to me, "Mom, Ruth is so beautiful."

So... we're feeling pretty blessed around here. And it's not so much that things in our life have changed, but that our Heavenly Father is changing us... showing us His blessings and causing us to see how good He is.

Hi Tammy...

It is such a wonderful time...a new baby in the house....and it sounds like it is going really well for your family. Ruth is so beautiful....and thanks for giving us a new picture of her. (It makes me wish I could hold her for a little while, too. Funny how little bitty babies do that, isn't it?) I am so glad for you that the boys are getting into the big brother thing.

Truly the Lord has blessed you and your family!

Have a blessed and grace filled week!

Debbie

Tammy, This is completely off topic from your post about your gorgeous baby girl. However:-)
I see references to Aldi's in your posts, I live in Florida and have never heard of them but, In the paper this week I saw that Aldi's is opening coporate offices here with the plan to open stores. Anyway, my question is, Are they like a Super Wal-mart or is it more like a Save-a-Lot? Thanks!

Well, I have never been to Save-a-lot, so I have no clue about that one. I do remember going to a Winco grocery store when we were visiting family in the Seattle area, and I thought it was comparable to Aldi's. :)

Aldi carries a limited selection of off-brand items... for example, you get one choice for cottage cheese, one choice for sour cream, a few different types of bread (i.e. whole wheat, multi-grain, Italian, wheat, and white), that sort of thing... it's cheaper than Wal-mart -- I get most of my staple groceries at Aldi. They don't bag the groceries, and the cashiers are FAST -- there's usually only 1-2 cashiers at our store. And the cashiers stock the shelves when they're not busy checking out groceries.

Anyway, I love Aldi's -- if you get one in your area, you should definitely check it out! :D

Aldi's is a lot like Save-A-Lot.

There is something very special with having a baby in the family! :) ~Tanya

Awhh. That is so true Tammy. They grow so fast. I can hardly believe my oldest is 16. Just seems like yesterday I was rocking her to sleep in my wicker rocking chair.
Your little that was gushing over Ruth sounds like my kids. Yesterday Nathan was honeying on Stephen and said, "I like my baby, he's my buddy" and, started to stroke his hair. Then Rebecca pops up and says, "I want a baby sister". HeHe. Who knows, she might get her wish. Stephen will be one soon. All depends how long he keeps nursing like he does.
And wasn't God sure was smart when he made baby's have to get their milk from mamas. I don't think I'd sit down long enough to enjoy the baby if it weren't for him needing me to feed him. HeHe. I am sure a lot busier with six than when I had three.
Keep enjoying that beautiful little doll. She is just so cute.
Blessings,
Shell

There really is something special about the time right after a baby is born. It really is a precious time.

I agree- time of change often bring times where God is changing us- for the better!
"showing us His blessings and causing us to see how good He is."
Amen!!

I think the re-focus is not only understandable, but beautiful! :) I love these types of posts!

Now I have to figure out what to make for men's group dinner... I guess I'll look around the rest of the site :)

Oh, I just love your website! I saved it as a favorite during Christmas break from Homeschooling, and have just now begun to peruse it.

Congratulations to you and yours on the birth of your little Ruth! You are very blessed! My hubby and I adopted two and would LOVE to have the Lord "remember" us just one more time with a precious baby, any way He would choose. It's difficult to hope because it just doesn't look like it will happen. Though we have already decided that if He were to bless us with a girl, she would HAVE to have the middle name of Hope, Faith, or Patience! I love the name you chose, as it is my Grandma's name. You are truly, truly blessed... enjoy every moment!

Since my little girl was born the day after Christmas, she's been nursing like a champ. You summed up my feelings so perfectly ... I look forward to breastfeeding her, when the two of us can snuggle on the couch, I can hold her little hands and just marvel at how wonderful she is. And how quickly breastfed babies grow! Our little pumpkin gained 4 pounds in 4 weeks!

Thanks for this post, and for the reminder of what a truly special bond I have with my darling little girl.

I LOVE your site, btw. You daughter and boys are just precious! My husband and I are expecting our 4th son (#3 is in Heaven) at the beginning of June. I could sit back and watch my belly wiggle for hours (if I had the time). I'm so excited for him to get here and to have that special nursing time like you're talking about. My oldest is turning 7 this week!!! I can't believe how time is flying. I need to slow down and enjoy this more. Thanks for you post!

Hi, Tammy, you left me an encouraging comment on my blog about being "overdue" just a few days before I had our baby. I love your blog and have been so happy to read your posts about Ruth and your boys. I think it is so neat to know that we have girls close in age and I love her name! We named our baby Rose.

This post brought tears to my eyes. I have a 4 month old and I know what you mean about blessings. I just found your site and it's great. I'm enjoying reading it.
