Pregnancy update -- ~8 months

 ~8 months pregnant

I am definitely enjoying the best part of this pregnancy right now! :) For the past month or so, I have had plenty of energy and been able to tackle a number of projects which really needed to be done before the baby's born -- like fixing some issues on this website and filing away lots of bills and paperwork that had been piling up. :)

As you can see from the picture, I'm still growing! ;) I'm measuring small, as usual, and everything is going well. At my last midwife appointment the baby was posterior, but there's still plenty of room in there for position changes. ;)

I've been sleeping well, in the only position that is comfortable -- on my left side. I can't believe that I've not had any acid reflux since the short bout of it around 3 months. I'm very thankful, since with my other two pregnancies I was waking frequently with acid reflux by this point! :)

I finally got my birth supplies ordered. Since we had so many leftover supplies from Eliyahu's birth, I only needed a few dollars' worth of things. We also decided to splurge on some disposable things (paper plates, paper napkins, etc.) to help make life a little easier while we're adjusting to being a family of 5. :) Depending on exactly when the baby's born, Joshua may or may not have much time off work -- but we're just thankful he hasn't been laid off. :)

Let's see... someone asked if we had a room decorated for the new baby. No, we don't... actually we're planning to move Yehoshua to a toddler bed, move Eliyahu to Yehoshua's crib (since it's the broken one), and use Eliyahu's crib for the new baby. But, we don't have a toddler bed yet, so that's all on hold. :) Also, the childrens' bedroom is rather small, so I still have no idea how we'll arrange everything... Yehoshua might end up sleeping in the living room. ;) I'll most likely have the new baby sleeping with me for quite a while, so the crib will be for naps. :)

Aside from the sleeping situation, I do have some things ready -- my baby clothes is even washed and put in dresser drawers! :)

Someone else asked about the due date... we don't have a specific due date this time, but I'm hoping I have <6 weeks left! :) I wouldn't be too surprised with a January baby, but I also wouldn't be surprised if it were February. After my last pregnancy (44 weeks), I've decided that I'm not a very good judge of when the baby will come! ;) Both Joshua and me, along with our midwife, feel comfortable about monitoring a pregnancy without a clear "due date"... and it's actually more exciting that way! I think it's made me more observant and helped me listen to my body more, rather than just saying, "Oh, I'm xx weeks along, so this is what's happening right now!"

So, I guess this is just an "I feel great" sort of update... I'm so thankful. YHWH has blessed me with a wonderful third trimester thus far... and He's even calming my fears about the future. I'm also remembering everyone's great advice about relaxing and relying on His strength and that it'll be okay if I don't have "everything" done when the baby's born. :)

You look good

I don't think I have seen you without your head covering in years. You look good. As of delivery - every delivery is different. Samuel was my hardest. I had trouble with him. I did enjoy doing all of them naturally. I was glad I got the twins out in time and the doctor didn't say c-section. Don would not have been able to be there for things if that would have happened. I would have had to been put under. I know your last delivery was hard and fast, but don't think this one will be that way too. I thought Samuel's would have been faster then he was, but it was longer.

Aww!

You look great Tammy - very blooming! Love, Lucy

glad to hear!

You look great, Tammy! :) Glad you have been feeling well too. That is a blessing. Wow, not much time left... Will keep you in my prayers too. ~Tanya

Beds

As far as beds are concerned, we skipped the whole toddler bed thing and went straight to a twin bed. We also put the 2yo in with his brother in the same bed. At that age you can put one at each end of a twin bed and still have plenty of room for both. We at one point even had a 17mo toddler in a big double bed all by himself because it was given to us and was available.

Thanks, everyone :) Yeah, I

Thanks, everyone :)

Yeah, I have heard that third labors aren't necessarily shorter than second labors (though of course they can be...) and that usually it's the second-time moms who are surprised that they're in labor and giving birth so quickly. :) Of course, this is just a general statement... my mom's fastest labor was her third one. :) But I'm definitely not "planning" on a short or "easy" (lol) labor! :)

About the beds, I don't have any set preferences but we are most likely going to get a hand-me-down toddler bed with mattress. :) Eliyahu (23 months) is still in a crib, and I'm not so sure about letting him have the freedom to get in and out of bed all by himself... especially if I've just given birth... :)

beds/mattress

Beds...we went from cribs to full size beds (at 2 yrs we switched, and bought those sides that attach to the beds). Full-size beds are more economical. Why spend money on a toddler bed, then go to a twin or whatever. Full-size, if kept well (and new of course) will last 10+ yrs.

I don't know if I could get a used mattress. That's just one thing, to me, that needs to be new. Not to mention you don't know what went on in that bed before.

Toddler beds, don't seem too expensive. Especially if you can get a twin mattress on sale most weeks for $50.

A good website for you

I've been charting my cycles for a year now. I use it to monitor how long my cycle is. So when I see my gyn I can tell him exactly how each month was. (light, heavy, painful cramps, how many days long etc). It also tells you if you conceive on this date, when your baby is due.

The website is www.mycycle.com Check it out! It even gives you an ovulation date. Which has been accurate for me!

ETA: What does Josh do that he worries about layoffs?

Maybe you'll have a little girl this time to round out the family!

I know about reflux! I had reflux for the first time in my life just in Oct. I thought I was having a heart attack! Just a small hiatal hernia, w/inflamation! Not fun! Have you found anything that works? My dr gave me two different rx. The Prevacid worked great. But I don't want to take that for long term.

You look SO perfectly motherly!

I just wanted to comment

I just wanted to comment that you do look great, and you are way more prepared than I've ever been. . . I've no doubt things will keep moving on well, and y'all will do wonderfully as life keeps moving on!

I like it how you are using

I like it how you are using the same shirt for all your pregnancy photos :) You can really tell easily how much you've grown that way!
So, since you are measuring small... that probably means you aren't as far along or that you will go later past the "date"...?
I'm sure you are growing more excited about meeting your precious baby!

I love seeing these updates! =)

You say you are measuring small, but I noticed that you must carry the baby really "out there" much like a ball. (And I hope this doesn't offend you by me saying this). It is kind of neat to see how different women carry their babies. I know one lady from the church we use to attend and you really couldn't tell she was expecting until the 6th month because she was tall and carried the baby more "upright" as opposed to her belly sticking out aways.
You're nearly in the home stretch now, the final weeks before baby comes. I'm so excited for you Tammy (and family)!

Love the pics!

Oh Tammy you look wonderful! It's easy to see you are feeling great - you're glowing! :) Isn't it nice to feel so good AND be accomplishing a lot? Especially with 2 little ones around - you are an inspiration to me! We have one and we're hoping for more, so I am reading up now (in my spare time -hahaha!) on having multiples because with a husband who will travel, I'm not sure how I will manage things like grocery shopping, yard work, etc.

I saw Jules' comment above - I used a similar site when we weren't conceiving: FertilityFriend.com (We conceived the first month I charted my temps!) You can chart your daily temps (basal body temp) and they will help you pinpoint your ovulation date. You can also chart your pregnancy but I'm not sure how or why you would do that. The point of knowing when you ovulate is to help ensure fertilization but when you're pregnant, there's not much to monitor, is there? :o) Maybe I am missing something!

I LOVED your menu plans, too! That was so great to see and it must have taken you a while to put together. So a huge Thank You! from all of us who are benefitting from it!!

Can't wait to keep checking in as you get closer to your little one's arrival - boy OR girl! :o)

measuring small

You know, I measured small with my daughter (now 10) I was (read WAS) a small person then too. So I was told to expect to have a 6 or 7 pounder or be a week or 2 or 3 :-) late. Well 36 hrs of hard labor and a c-section later I had a 9lb 4 oz baby girl on her due date. She was the largest baby born in that hospital in 6 months. However a dear friend had a 12 pound boy!!. Seriously, My long labor was in part caused by a pre-existing health problem (don't want to discourage you ;-) ). My point was to say that even with "modern medicine" being in on this miracle is always a surprise in some way.
Blessings for you and your family, you are in our prayers

Pregnancy...

Jaclynn, yeah -- my tummy does look like it has a ball inside! :) I don't think I look extra small or anything, but with both of my other pregnancies I have measured smaller than "normal". :)

With Yehoshua, I measured 36 cm at 42 weeks, and he weighed 7 lbs 4 oz. :) Eliyahu, I measured even smaller (I don't think I ever measured above 34 cm with him!) and he weighed 8 lbs. :) So, I'm not concerned about the measurements... and I know by now that babies aren't very particular about due dates! :)
