Prayer Request for Eliyahu

UPDATE: Eliyahu is home and doing great. Thanks for your prayers. You can read the details here

It was a little over a year ago that we had a prayer request for Yehoshua, and this time it is Eliyahu in need of some loving prayers.

As many have noticed Tammy has not been posting a lot lately. Part of that is due to morning sickness (all day sickness, every day to be quite honest) and the kids getting a couple sniffles. Early this week Yehoshua got a little cold and fever which he was over in about 2 days. Tuesday evening Eliyahu began having the same symptoms. Wednesday morning he was a little wheezy and tired, but no more than Yehoshua was. The difference being he wasn’t coughing as much as Yehoshua. We talked about taking him to his pediatrician but since Yehoshua bounced back quickly and Eliyahu seemed to be ok we decided to wait.

Eliyahu remained like this most of the day, but as evening approached he became quite ill and began displaying labored breathing. It was late and I was just heading off to work, but we decided he should get seen to be safe so Tammy’s mother picked them up as I headed out the door. And it was a blessing that they went – within the next hour his breathing became extremely labored, he became lethargic and his respirations were well over 60 per minute. The ER doctor determined that he had sudden onset pneumonia; Eliyahu wasn’t responding to the nebulizer treatments so they decided he need to be taken to the Toledo hospital asap. So off they went on an airlift.

He is doing well now, much more alert and most importantly stable. Eliyahu is still wheezy but his breathing isn’t quite as labored. Although Eliyahu will have to stay at least one more night Tammy and he are doing well. Yehoshua and I are heading out the door soon to take some clothing, snacks and toys to keep our little buddy company.

Thanks for your understanding and prayers. Also, thanks for understanding the lack of updates the last couple months. We are hoping the second trimester is more kind to Tammy than the first. She doesn’t make a big production out of it, but she hasn’t felt well with this pregnancy and the sight of food makes her less than anxious to whip up her normal gourmet feasts. But until then we got to get our little guy back into shape which is all that matters right now :)

Good wishes and prayers

I enjoy your posts so much and have made several of your recipes.

My prayers are with you and your family. Congrats, on the new life, you are carrying.

Tammy

Praying for you

Wow, I am praying for you guys.

I had a similar experience. When my oldest was 13 months and my second daughter was 3 weeks old, they got colds. My oldest got over it in a few days, but the baby gradually got worse and worse. Finally, we rushed her to the doctor and they admitted us to the hospital because she had RSV. I felt so terrible for letting her go so long without going to the doctor- she was only getting 70% oxygen. These things can really sneak up on you. She is healthy and vibrant now.

Children are so resilient and bounce back so much quicker than adults. Glad he is on the mend.

God bless!

Prayers

I, too will be praying for your family. I pray that the little one has a speedy recovery and that Tammy feels better soon.

Yes, there are things that are infinitely more important than blogging...like little boys.

Of course

You will all most definitely be in my prayers & please update us when you can. Hugs to the dear little one.

Please let Tammy know we are praying for Eliyahu and for her. She loves tea and maybe some Milk Thistle tea would be helpful for her morning sickness; ginger as well. I think all of her "readers" understand her health & the health of her family comes first. God Bless you all & thanks for the update.

prayers

I'll add Eliyahu to my prayer list. My heart goes out to you all, little ones being sick is such a scary thing!

If this is unwanted advice, just ignore it, but in reguards to Tammy's morning/all day sickness: has she tried using Seabands wristbands? They are designed to hit the pressure point on the inside of the wrist that reduces nausea. They are recommended for motion sickness, chemo patients, and expectant mothers. When I was on heavy doses of meds that made me constantly nauseous I tried the wristbands and was amazed at how much they helped. You should be able to find them at walmart/target/walgreens, just about any pharmecy.

Again, praying for all of you right now, and especially your little guy.

We'll be praying here...

I can't imagine how difficult these last few days have been with such a sick little one and mama not feeling well either. Praise the Lord Eliyahu is on the mend! We will be praying!!!
I certainly understand the morning sickness issues. With my first I had all-day-every-day-all-nine-months sickness. It was really hard, I cooked a very small handful of meals during the whole time. the most important thing is a healthy mama and baby, blogging can wait if necessary :)!
May you feel the face of God shining on you, bringing you peace and healing!

Morning sickness is never pleasant but isn't it funny how we never think a thing of it when we've got that baby in our arms. :-)
Anyway, I will be praying for complete restoration of health for both Eliyahu and Tammy.

I will certianly keep your family in my prayers. we just went through something very similar with our Gabriel over Christmas! He was so sick and they told us they were going to put him into the picu. Our church family prayed for him and he was lifted up and stunned all the drs and came out of it quicker then the drs anticipated.
I pray for the same thing for your darling boy.

Praise God you have so many people praying for you!! I will make sure and do the same. I am so sorry for the little guy, it must be rough. Tammy I know how you feel being so very sick, I lost 20lbs with my last one because I was so sick. I will continue to pray for you and your pregnancy. Goodness

So sorry to hear about Eliyahu. The Toledo Hospital is a good hospital. My husband is a nurse and worked there for six years. If you need anything while you're here in the area, feel free to email me. We will keep Eliyahu and the whole family in our prayers.

Beth

Sorry

Dear Tammy and Family,

I don't see my comment up here, so I guess I offended you. I'm sorry. I sent the message and then I couldn't see it and I thought that I didn't word it exactly right and it may have been offensive, but I thought you would understand. I don't remember exactly what I wrote, but I have a hard time expressing myself sometimes. And, sometimes, I am reacting to the last line or so in the post and it doesn't always make sense (and I'm in a hurry). In this case, I was reacting to the next to the last paragraph of Eliyahu being much better. :-) So, I'm sorry I offended you (if I did). I really am glad that your little one is okay, because I know how it is to go through those scary times and they can happen so fast. I had some horribly scary times with my husband. This is just for you guys, I'm not sending this to be posted as a comment. But, if you want to post it, that's fine, too. :-D I hope all is well with all of you soon.

In Christ,

Ginny

Oh, MY! I would absolutely

Oh, MY! I would absolutely faint from horror if my little boys were air lifted. I am so sorry for the experience, but so thankful that your baby is doing better. I will definately keep you all in my prayers.

Where was the pregnancy announcement? Was she keeping it a secret? I'm pregnant (and sick) too. I totally sympathize.

But I'm glad he is doing better now- Praise the Lord! I hope he can come home soon.
I hope that Tammy gets to feeling better soon, too. I'm sure it's quite a struggle to do much when you are sick all day, every day.
Don't worry about doing reg. updates- we don't mind :) We understand!!
