Food to share

Farmhouse chicken

My project for this afternoon was making these two dishes of Farmhouse Chicken -- one for our lunch tomorrow, and one to take to a relative who gave birth to a little girl last week. :)

My plan is to make some garlic bread in the morning (a loaf of italian bread spread with garlic butter and wrapped in foil, to be warmed in the oven), and, if I'm feeling really energetic, I'll make a double batch of waffles, which are really delicious warmed back up in a toaster!

I know it isn't much, but with a new baby in the house, anything helps. :)

What a wonderful gift!

Tammy, this is so thoughtful of you! :) When our daughter was born 8 months ago, we had so many generous gifts of food and meals - what a tremendous blessing that was to us! Every mom (who's been there herself ;)) knows just how much a meal can lighten the load. What a relief not to have to think about dinner, when all you can think about is a nap! :)
Praying your thoughtfulness blesses more than just your relative ;)

Love this dish!

I love this recipe and have seen it in several incarnations. At Menus4Moms, it's called Swiss Chicken and adds slices of Swiss cheese over the chicken mixture before adding the stuffing. Yum! I love that you use a cream base instead of mushroom soup -- trying to get out of that habit here. I often use cooked chicken when making it, which saves a little time in the process. In the winter, I'll boil up a whole package of chicken breasts and chop the chicken for casseroles. In the summer, I'll grill the whole package and do the same. Yum!

Not much ?!?

I think that's plenty! Especially considering you're pregnant yourself :)
I discovered, by reading several blogs, that it was customary in the US to bring food to mothers when a baby is born. I think that's a fabulous thing, which doesn't really exist here (unless you're mum is able to come over and cook for you!). People will gladly bring gifts, but nobody ever thinks of bringing food, and I guess it must be such a great help.

How sweet!

I think that is a very nice thing to do.I would love it if someone helped me out and did that for me.They will appreciate it so much!

That is nice! I think a

That is nice! I think a simple meal is the best! The one thing we always looked forward to when someone brought us dinner was dessert....as we did not get it much! It is so amazing to me that you are doing this and being pregnant/sick!
