My grandma had knee surgery last week, and has been staying in the hospital here in town. One of the things that kept us busy this past week was going to visit her. We've gone a number of times, and each time, Yehoshua takes a page from his coloring book that he has colored for her. He loves coloring, and it's a good excuse to make sure we sit down to do it. ;)
Yehoshua's coloring book has lots of "old fashioned" pictures, and we've been picking out ones we think Grandma would especially enjoy... clotheslines full of clothes, big gardens, a windmill, animals, and barns. ;)
Today I snapped a picture of Yehoshua with his page, right before we headed out the door. :)
Eliyahu, on the other hand, still tries to eat crayons. We have to color during his nap time. ;)

Ginny
Sweet! I love coloring, too. :-D
Oh Tammy, his colouring
Oh Tammy, his colouring looks so neat and "grown up" - our James just does a little scribble of the colour in the centre of each area - as if a token gesture is enough, so his pictures never look "done". Yehoshua looks so grown up! Love, Lucy x
Coloring...
Ginny, I like to color, too! Yehoshua usually gets tired of it before I do. ;)
Lucy, I help Yehoshua a lot with his pictures. I ask him what color each thing should be (I don't just let him color the whole page orange! lol), and I have to do a lot of coaxing sometimes to get him to keep at it until the picture is done.
Also, sometimes he colors something (like, the clouds) and then I color it, too... so it looks a little more filled-in. But I am teaching him to use the side of the crayon for things like grass and sky, and he does those perfectly! :)
Coloring Book
We love to color here as well. Did you order that coloring book from some place special, or did you just happen to find an old fashioned one at the store? I'd love to get one of those. Thanks, hope you don't mind me asking.
Amish coloring book
The coloring book was purchased at an Amish-owned store about 2 hours from here (in Holmes County, Ohio). They have a large variety, and we also have an ABC one that's similar. I can't find anything similar online, and there's no authoring information. The coloring books were $1 each. The one we've been using has lots of animal pages and "old fashioned" stuff. There aren't any pictures of people in it. I think it was drawn by an Amish person. There are just a couple buggy pictures. :)
You can order coloring
You can order coloring books like that too from like A.C sales or Gohn Brothers, GVS too I think. Pathway and Rod and Staff has some nice ones also!
sweet!
I'm sure Grandma treasures each picture!! :)

Thanks Tammy :)
Years ago, I ordered some from Rod & Staff, as Martha mentioned. I'll have to see what they have now. Great price for $1.00! I love those simple Amish coloring books. Ds is nine now, but he loved them as a preschooler as well. Now I have dd, 21 months old, and she's showing interest in coloring.
Thanks for the information Martha. :)
