Kitchen Tip Tuesdays: Keeping dishcloths fresh

Welcome to our second edition of Kitchen Tip Tuesdays! Thank you to everyone who participated last week! I loved reading everyone's handy tips. :)

My tip this week is about how I keep my dishcloths  fresh. I'm sure it isn't anything novel, but I love knowing that my dish rags are all fresh and clean!

During the course of a day, we usually get out 1-3 (or more, depending on what we're doing) dishcloths. Wiping childrens' faces, cleaning up messes, cooking, and washing dishes... our dish rags are well-used! :)

At night time, before I go to bed, I rinse out all the dish rags with hot water. I wring them out and hang them on the sink, or stove (or even clothesline, if it's nice outside) to dry.

In the morning, I put all of the dry, dirty dish rags in with the dirty laundry. Then throughout the day, I get out fresh ones as needed. I never have to guess how long a dishcloth has been out, because it's never longer than a day, and never long enough to start smelling icky! :)

Before I did this, my dishcloths would end up smelling awful, and I would resort to using bleach every time I washed whites. Now, I very rarely use bleach, and they still smell great! :)
