May 13, 2007 -- Asparagus and OnionsWell, it's asparagus season in our part of the world, and we absolutely love fresh garden produce! It's especially nice when you have friends or relatives who grow too much for themselves, and decide to give some away. ;) Since we were married, it seems that each year, even when we weren't able to do any gardening ourselves, we were blessed with a variety of vegetables from others. One of my favorite ways to eat asparagus is this simple pan-fried Asparagus and Onions dish! It takes just minutes to prepare the asparagus and onions, which are them seasoned and tossed in the pan until crisp-tender. We eat Asparagus and Onions more than any other asparagus recipe, because it is so easy and so yummy!! I decided to feature this simple, delicious way to prepare asparagus as this week's "recipe of the week". Throughout the week, I plan to share a few more ways to enjoy asparagus, so stay tuned! :) I smiled when I read this comment. :) You are so welcome! And I hope the diapers work out well for you. :) I planted asparagus last year but it won't be ready to eat for another year or two. I'll be sure to keep these recipes in mind though for when we start harvesting it. I didn't used to like asparagus at all until about 6 months ago. I guess I'm just maturing...:) Thanks so much for the asparagus & onion recipe :) we love asparagus but all I really know to do with it is roast it or steam it...so this is going to come in handy :) Lindsey, maybe by the time yours is ready, you'll love it! :) Actually, the way it's prepared makes a big difference, at least to us... we don't like it soggy! :) Anonnymous, you're quite welcome. :) Post new comment |

I just want to say that I have really been motivated on being frugal in every area that I can, thanks to you! I love reading about how frugal you are, and how you find different ways to do things. Thank you for being such a good example for me. I will admit when first reading this website, and I saw how frugal you were with everything, I was a bit critical! I would say things to myself like, just go out and buy some paper towels they aren't that expensive:( Sorry!! Well, the Lord had really been convicting me about how much money I spend. My husband makes good money (which is a blessing of the Lord), so I never thought I needed to be very frugal. Thank you for opening my eyes. I now love it!! I love the challange of finding different ways to do things, and making my own cleaners and such. Right now I am making my daughter cloth diapers with her leftover recieveing blankets that I have NEVER used. Keep doing what you are doing, you are doing a great job and I just wanted to thank you!!
