A soft cookie squares made with whole wheat, rolled oats, cinnamon, and honey

48 squares

6 cups whole wheat flour
1 1/2 cups rolled oats
1 cup (packed) brown sugar
2 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons baking soda
3 tablespoons ground cinnamon
3/4 cup honey
1 1/2 cups oil
1 cup cold water

1. In a large bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients. Make a well in the center of the bowl.

2. In a separate bowl, combine honey, oil, and water. Mix well, then add to dry ingredients and stir until mixture forms a thick, crumbly/stiff dough.

3. Grease two 10x15-inch jelly roll pans. Put half of the dough on each sheet and press flat, using your fingers or a spatula. Using a pizza cutter or butter knife, slice each sheet into 24 squares.

4. Bake sheets at 400 degrees for 13-18 minutes, or until lightly browned, switching racks half-way through baking.

5. Remove pans from oven to wire racks, and allow the cookies to cool on the pans. Re-slice, remove from pans, and store in an air-tight container or bag.

This recipe was originally from Sarah G. in Missouri, though I changed it slightly and re-wrote the directions. :)

These cinnamon graham squares are like cookies rather than graham crackers. They're so delicious, and a healthier treat or snack. :) They're also very easy to make!! We love them. My rating: 10/10

very very good!
I had planned on making this for my 1 year old thinking it would be a good snack. I really wasn't sure what the others would think about it. It was very good!!! The rest of the family loved it, I went ahead and made the whole batch it is now GONE! I know this is not healthy but once they got a little stale the big boys put syrup on it like pancakes. I will be making these again! Note about them being dry... Yes they are crumbly and a bit dry but I guess if you are thinking of it as a graham cracker it tastes just right. If you are thinking of it as a cookie (which it does resemble) then it is dry. I think you should try them. We liked them just the way they are but some didn't. I think you have to try it to see for yourself:) Thanks again for a great recipe Shorty

A new staple in our house
We make these regularly and keep the extras in our freezer. I halved the brown sugar and serve them as a snack food, not a dessert. My kids really love them. My only complaint is they can be dry and crumbly - I think I will cook for less time next time.

A healthy treat
I had this recipe printed out for a while but finally made it last night. I only made 1/2 a batch as I needed it done for our Bible Study and I only have one oven rack. I 1/2ed everything but the cinnamon (did 2tbsp - just because I love cinnamon) and the honey (1/2 cup - a little more as per others comments). I thought they were really healthy and not too sweet. My husband thought they were bland, but he likes his sweets. At Bible Study my mom had some and thought they were great! I'm eating one right now with my morning coffee and it goes good together. A healthy addition to my recipe collection - thank you! I really appreciate recipes using all whole-wheat flour.

A great quick snack
I've had this recipe printed out, and have been meaning to make it for awhile. It is so quick, easy, and yummy, I don't know why I didn't make it sooner. It is a little dry (but perfect with milk), thus the 9, and I think I'll add a bit more honey next time as I think it could use a bit more sweetness. The cinnamon smell as it was cooking and the flavor is wonderful. I was almost tempted to halve the recipe since it made so much. So glad I make a full batch! It will be gone quickly, I'm sure.

Great taste!
These are delicious! And dairy- and egg-free! I did some tweaking on the recipe and only made a half batch. I substituted a half-cup of water for a quarter cup of the oil (in my half batch), and they are moist and soft. Also, they rose a lot! They didn't cut well before baking (but batter doesn't cut, does it??), so next time I'll wait till they are cool. I don't think I'll tweak the recipe the next time, though, as my usual rule is always to make a recipe "as is" the first time around (I just wanted to reduce the oil :).

Nice and Healthy
I made 1/2 recipe last week and still had enough to share with friends since it makes such a nice big pan! I ate them every day for breakfast with my cup of tea and they were soft and yummy all week long. My only change for next time would be to add more oats and a little more sweetness (but I like everything with more sweetness!).

yahoo!!!
Finally an alternative to the sugary, chemically laden cereal bars on the market!!! My daughters love to snack on cereal bars but I always hesitate to buy them because of the nasty ingredients...oh but they are convenient aren't they???!!! Never again-from now on, it will only be this delicious and easy to prepare recipe in our house :-) Thanks again, Tammy!

Yummy
I had bookmarked this recipe and been meaning to make it as soon as I read it. My parents were coming to town and I needed a good dessert that wasn't too sweet (neither my mom or dad likes white flour or sugar) and this was perfect. It was super easy and so good. I packaged the remaining squares in ziploc bags and took them along as we went sightseeing that weekend - they are a great snack. I also ate them for breakfast for the next week :-). Only thing is I might play with them to make them a bit more moist, otherwise I have to eat them with a glass of milk handy.

easy and good!
These are definitely a 10 when it comes to ease of making them! They are indeed sooo easy. But I decided to give them a score of 9 as I liked them best while still warm but didn't like them AS well the next day. (A bit dry.) My sister and I tried them at the same time and at the same time as I was saying, "They're good! Not too sweet..." she was saying, "They're good! Not TOO healthy tasting." ;-) (I think the whole wheat flour made her suspicious.) So there you go: they are a good blend of a healthy snack and a mildly sweet treat.:-) I thought I'd mention the variation I made the second time I made them: instead of the honey I used molasses and I slightly decreased the cinnamon and added some ginger. So they tasted like gingerbread....they were nice, too. This one will be a keeper for me.:-)

Easy and yummy!
My family all enjoyed these! We had them with homemade carob chip ice cream and it was the perfect combination. I think they'll make great leftovers, too. It's a recipe I'll be keeping. :-)

Very yummy!
I was reading Tammy's blog, and saw this recipe...my parents always like to have something with their coffee in the morning...usually they have graham crackers, but as of late, they've been eating girl scout cookies (really unhealthy!), but those are pretty much gone, so I decided I'd make a batch. I halfed the recipe because we only have one pan like that, and there are only three of us here. I only sampled half of a square, and Mom and Dad don't even know I made them yet...but I give them a 10/10 :o)
