Chocolate Lovers Rejoice! Cocoa May Improve Blood Flow to the BrainThe AP is reporting (via MSNBC) on a new study that indicates that the right types of cocoa, high in the antioxidants known as flavanols, may increase bloodflow to the brain. Yet another reason to indulge in some after dinner chocolate! ;)
The researchers do warn not to “overdo” your chocolate intake to increase cocoa consumption. Most chocolate is high in fat and calories, and most commercial cocoa is low in flavanols which are typically removed due to the bitter taste they depart. Is the fact that I prefer dark chocolate a good thing? As I grew older, I noticed it had more flavor. Now I notice this whenever I taste the two. I like making homemade candy when I have the time and supplies. Need new candy molds though. More studies are indicating that Chocolate may also be good in regards to the heart... gotta love Chocolate ;) We used to make candy a lot - for church fund raisers and such. We also did it for holidays. She still makes her dipped cherries, but they contain alcohol, so I don't really care for them. Those don't take molds anyway...just dip and go. Post new comment |

I really really like chocolate. And tea. Anyway, too bad commercial cocoa isn't as high in flavanols. :P
