Pepperoni Roll recipe

Here's another reader-submitted recipe we recently tried and loved! Katie M. from Ohio recommended these Pepperoni Rolls, which were simple to make and served as a nice twist on traditional pizza cinnamon rolls ummm, food. ;)

Katie wrote that her family loves this dish, which makes a great lighter meal or snack. Katie also added that this would still be a good meal if you substituted some more healthful ingredients. :)

Joshua and I both enjoyed the rolls, and agreed that it was a great snack! We ate the leftovers cold, like leftover pizza. Thanks for the yummy recipe, Katie!

Pepperoni Pinwheels

We've made a similar recipe many times, however, your recipe seems less expensive and healthier (when using ww flour) than the one I have used in the past with bought cans of crescent rolls.

For our family it takes 4 cans of rolls. You roll them out, fill them with pepperoni and cheese, make a log, and cut into individual pinwheels.

We will definitely have to try this version since it's already a hit at our house! Thank you! ~ Deb

Oh yum, these look terrific. I'm definitely going to be trying these as they would be a perfect thing to send along with Jonno to work. It's one of those ideas that makes me go, "Why didn't I think of that?"

Sauce inside?

Would the filling "stick" better through cutting the rolls if you spread some sort of tomato/pasta sauce on the dough before sprinkling the seasonings and meat? It seems to me that it would serve a similar purpose as the melted butter in cinnamon rolls.

Just a thought!

Deb, that does sound kind of like the same thing! If you have a bread machine, you can always knead the dough in there to make this recipe even easier! :)

Bethanie, your husband might like these then! They are like a pizza cinnamon roll. :)

Ruth, if Jonno likes them, they'd make a great lunch box snack! :)

Anonymous, I wondered the same about adding sauce inside the roll. I think the shredded cheese and chopped pepperoni is just a little too much "stuff" for the dough to stick together like a roll. Cinnamon rolls just have butter, sugar, and cinnamon (and maybe a few raisins), so they're more dough and less "stuff".

Maybe someone will try this with sauce inside and leave a review for me. :) I'm SURE this recipe would taste great with sauce inside! :)

Super!!

Awesome!! I used to make a version of these in the 80s when I was just out of college. They called for refrigerated rolls which I refuse to buy now!! We will definitely LOVE these!!!

Dough/rolls

Great! :) I've never bought prepared dough before, because my "easy pizza" dough is so versatile and quick to make, especially when I use the bread machine to knead it. :)
