Day Five: A day to not put off doing fun things as a family

For today's anti-procrastination challenge, Mrs. Wilt challenged everyone to not put off doing something fun with our families. :)

Yehoshua and Daddy play with play dough :)

This evening, Yehoshua and his daddy played with play dough at the kitchen table while Eliyahu helped me with the dishes. Yehoshua loved the creatures that Dad made, and especially enjoyed destroying them in typical 2-year-old-boy fashion. ;)

I didn't get a picture of Eliyahu, because I was too busy trying to make sure he didn't eat the suds! :)

Yehoshua helps make soup

We made some soup, and Yehoshua stirred it for me for a long time. This was the first time I let him stir something on the stove. He did a great job of staying back, not stirring too wildly, and not falling off the chair or doing anything else that's too dangerous. :)

In the evening, after Eliyahu had gone to bed, Joshua made a mocha cheesecake (with chocolate crust, oh, it looks so yummy!). Yehoshua and I sat in the kitchen and read books togethyer, aloud, so Dad could listen while he cooked. We read some Winnie the Pooh stories (the original, hilarious, ones!) and Frog and Toad, old favorites of ours. :)

And now I need to stop procrastinating about taking a shower and heading to bed. :)

Priceless Pictures

I enjoy seeing the pictures you take of the boys. Who knows, Yehoshua might be the next chef! ;-) There is nothing wrong with teaching boys to cook. Yes cooking may be "womens work" to some, but boys grow into men and men have to fend for themselves when they get older if they aren't married! Better than eating fast food all the time! ;-)

The best anti-procrastination!

Nothing could be better to accomplish than doing things as a family. :)

I love to see how you incorporate Yehoshua into your daily "things to do." I remember when he was under a year old and you would say that he had "helped" fold laundry or "do dishes." It's been one of those things that I've tucked away to remember as Troy gets older--wanting him to learn basic things early, be able to help from a young age (especially as more children arrive!), and most of all have that fun developmental quality time together.

And, on that note... Y. looks so BIG here. Sigh. It happens way. too. fast.

Those are some good

Those are some good pictures!
I like your kettle on the stove.... Oh, mocha cheese cake is on order for Elijahs up-coming birthday. He will be 20 and requested MCC instead of a the normal birthday cake.

Time goes by...

Thanks for the comments! Anonymous, since Joshua and I both enjoy cooking, our children think it's just what people do for fun! :)

Ashleigh, Yehoshua is getting to be so grown up! I love every minute; it's fun when he is able to do new things (like washing his hands by himself after a meal!) and it's really fun that we can actually have conversations and stuff like that. Babies grow up, but every moment is still just as amazing! :)

Candy, thanks! :) Do you already have a mocha cheesecake recipe? :) Are you still a coffee-drinker? :)

As soon as I saw the second

As soon as I saw the second picture I thought "he's looking so grown up!" It is amazing how much they start to progress and learn at Yehoshua's age.

It is neat to see you include him (and Eliyahu) in your everyday work rather. The interaction, work ethic, etc. are learned at a young age and that just becomes normal for them which is obviously good. :)

Thanks, Lindsey! :)
