Hospitality Tips, Mexican Style

I loved this post by my friend Amanda, Hospitality Tips, Mexican Style! It had me smiling all the way through. I especially loved this part:

"Always provide drinks for your guests, and food if possible. Even if you do not like your guests. I've seen my Mom feed people that were criticizing her while she prepared their meal. My Mom does have her faults, but she also has some amazing qualities, and one of them is feeding her enemies."

Whether you entertain guests frequently or rarely, Hospitality Tips, Mexican Style is a good reminder of how to serve your guests!

These are great tips

I'll definitely remember these for when company calls again. I always do better with impromptu guests than the planned ones. I guess I get nervous.

Wow!

That sounds just like my mother!! uh...I think she is! ;-) And a wonderful one at that!

Love it!

I am still learning how to be that hospitable--I'm trying hard but my dh comes from a culture where what you posted is common practice, and I don't. I was raised in a family where hospitality was highly valued, but not quite to that extent.

In dh's country, if you're travelling through a town, all you have to do is ask for a local pastor, and said pastor will find you a bed and food to eat. It doesn't matter who you are or if anyone knows you! Dh remembers occasionally having two or three complete strangers sharing a bed in their house (even bed-sharing is good hospitality there!)

Hospitality

Brandy, I do better with planned guests than impromptu ones! I wonder if that's because sometimes my house is a complete DISASTER and I would hate for anyone to stop over and see leftovers still sitting out (cold), dirty dishes everywhere, toys all over the floor, and my hair not combed? :D

Candy and Amanda, I have gotten to enjoy your mother's hospitality first-hand. She is such a friendly lady, willing to open her home to others and so laid-back about having a housefull!! :)

Anonymous, thanks for your comment! It's interesting to learn how hospitality differs according to culture! Unfortunately, sometimes hospitality could be unsafe (like to complete strangers)... that's what would worry me!

That said, we have invited people to our home who we didn't know very well at all though. :)
