Gourmet Potatoes

Gourmet Potatoes

A baked casserole of seasoned cheesy mashed potatoes

6-8 servings

6 medium potatoes, cooked, peeled, and shredded or mashed with potato masher
2 cup shredded white american cheese*
1/4 cup margarine or butter
1 1/4 to 1 1/2 cups milk
4 teaspoons chopped onion
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper

1. Melt butter and cheese, and then add the rest of the ingredients.

2. Pour into a greased 9x13 pan or a larger if desired, garnishing with paprika if desired.

3. Bake uncovered at 350º for 30-45 minutes. Potatoes may appear runny at first, but as it cools, it thickens into a creamy, mashed potato-like consistency.

Gourmet Potatoes

*You can experiment with different white cheeses as well, which will give it a different flavor such as Farmers, Munster, etc.

We loved these potatoes! The recipe sounds simple (and it is!), and so we were pleasantly surprised the first time we tasted these absolutely wonderful potatoes!

We used leftover mashed potatoes, which hadn't been peeled, and we also used cheddar cheese instead of the white cheese. I garnished with some parsley flakes and paprika, which looked pretty.

The top of the potatoes became slightly dried as it baked, giving a wonderful taste and texture, while the inside was creamy and seasoned just perfectly! This is definitely on our list of new favorites! My rating: 10/10

Yummy!
I made these for a holiday dinner a little while ago (I think it was Easter). I divided the batch into two pans and took some to each side of the family's dinner (my side and hubby's side). They were good the first day, but the batch that set in the fridge overnight before baking was WAY better. I guess the flavors had time to mingle together more. Either way, this is a very good potato dish.

Very good
I usually use unsalted butter, but ran out so I used salted and therefore did not add the salt listed in the recipe. As a result they were not salty enough so we added it as we ate. Still, they were very good and I will definitely make the recipe again.

Mouth-watering!
This is a recipe we obviously enjoy since I submitted it to Tammy. =) It is simple, but so delicious that it's a great recipe to use if you are having guests and want to make something different than regular mashed poatoes!

So easy!
I'm on a diet but I prepared these for my family last night. I can say that the prep was so easy. They were gobbled up! They all loved them and they do agree that the crispy parts are the best!
