Orange Julius

Orange Julius

A creamy orange smoothie with milk and a hint of vanilla

2 servings

3 ounces frozen orange juice concentrate
1/2 cup milk*
1/2 cup water
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 banana, optional
6 regular-sized ice cubes (or until desired consistency)

1. Blend together orange juice concentrate, milk, water, sugar, vanilla, and banana (if using) for 1 minute.

2. Add ice cubes to blender, one at a time, blending after each one until smooth. You don't want chunks of ice in your orange julius! :)

Tammy's Review:

This is a delicious, slightly sweet, creamy smoothie. The vanilla adds a great flavor, making this taste like an orange dreamsicle type of drink! :) It's also quick and easy to make. :) My rating: 10/10

One of my favorite treats as a child was an Orange Julius. This recipe matches it very well!

Edited to add: This recipe also cures husbands of grumpiness. Mine told me that the one I fixed a couple days ago really helped to wake him up and brighten his mood! :-P

The ones at Dairy Queen!

Thanks for sharing it.

Tammy, I used to make this frequently with the same proportions! It was wonderful--sweet though. And I didn't use the banana. The vanilla definitely highlights the flavours, so don't skip it.

My kids and I made this for "dessert" one evening. We loved it. We made a double batch and used a whole banana and it was very refreshing. My son now wants to try it with grape juice. He's already got a name for it. Grape Octavious!

and hubby and I liked it. We used about 25 ice cubes, though. We like our drinks thick, like smoothies.

I was so surprise how much it tastes like the real thing! M kids love it! What a great way to sneak milk in their diet! Thanks!

My good friend loves these. So when she was over it was a fun treat to make for her! These are really sweet and delicious and truly hit the spot on a warm day!
