Calendar pages become envelopes

In another month or so, we'll be retiring our 2007 calendars and hanging 2008 ones! I love to make homemade envelopes from old calendar pages. Here is how I make mine!

First, tear each page from the calendar. Select the pages you wish to use. I usually just pick out my favorite pages, since if I saved them all, I would never use them!

Turn one calendar page over, like this. The month will be printed upside down.

Fold the bottom half of the page up -- leaving an extra 1-2 inches at the top (for the flap).

Unfold the page, and fold both sides in. If you want a large envelope, you can fold the sides in about half an inch. If you want a smaller envelope, you can fold the sides in more.

Apply a thin strip of glue (I just use Elmer's school glue, and smooth it with my finger) to each of the folded-in sides, on the photo part (green in my picture) not on the month part.

Fold the bottom back up, and press the glued edges together. Allow envelope to dry. You could tape the sides of the envelope rather than using glue, but I like the glue because it's cheap and works well. :)

Turn your envelope over and affix address labels. After filling the envelope, use glue or tape to secure the back flap.

Depending on the picture you used, you may be able to just use a premanant black marker to write the addresses.

This is the same size calendar page, folded into a smaller envelope. :)

I've been doing this for a long time with magazine pictures that I really like. It's a great way to make your favorite pictures last a little longer. :-)

Do make sure to include the to address on a white label or piece of paper glued on -- its very hard to people and Post Office machines to read it otherwise. (which it looks like you did with the forest envelope!) great idea by the way, I plan on doing this.

That's fabulous!!

I make envelopes out of calendar pages also to use for sending in my sweepstakes entries (one of my hobbies).
Sure makes for a pretty envelope. =)

Love it!

So fun, so easy and so beautiful!!

cool tip

I had cards without envelopes stacked and ready to pitch. Instead, I made my own envelope and sent a note to a friend. Cool tip. Thanks. I love recyling things!
