Additional Notes:

*If you need to store syrup for a long time, omit the butter. Syrup will store for a long time in the fridge.

If you would like to make syrup without using corn syrup, here are instructions for a variation without corn syrup:

1 pound brown sugar
1 1/4 cups water
1 teaspoon maple or vanilla flavoring
pinch of salt

Directions: Mix brown sugar and water in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat and simmer for 3 minutes. Remove from heat and add flavoring.

Preparation Time:

5 minutes

Tammy's Review:

I love this sweet homemade syrup! My mom always made this for pancakes when I was growing up. I know it's very sweet... so we don't make it very often... but it's sooooo yummy!! (We usually use fruit on our pancakes or waffles.) My rating: 10/10

This was really really REALLY good. A little went a long way. I definately see myself making granola with this syrup too.

I have to admit up front that I altered the recipe because we didn't have maple flavoring. We used almond, and I'm actually glad we were out of maple. The basic recipe is so good that I think we will experiment some with flavorings we might not have otherwise. Thanks!

Made this to go w/ the pumpkin spice yummy!
